Putters

The putter is one of the most important and most used golf clubs in any golfers bag. Almost all all holes you play will require you to finish it with your putter. It is therefore crucial for you to have the correct golf putter for your golf game.

There are many different types of golf putters these days. Ranging from a blade putter to toe-hang putters. With the advancements in technology that putters have seen it can become complicated for golfers to understand what putter is right for them.

Blade Putters - Normally having a thinner more traditional look with a compact head. Blade Putters offer an excellent feel and feedback but are normally for the higher skilled golfers.

Mallet Design - Recent years have seen a trend in touring pro's moving from a blade to mallet putters. Most notably Scottie Scheffler changed his blade putter to a TaylorMade Spider, which in turn led to his best putting season ever. The mallet putter will have a larger and more forgiving head with various different shapes. They offer a higher moments of inertia (MOI) and therefore has more stability on off center strikes giving more forgiveness and consistency.

Mid-Mallet - The mid-mallet is a hybrid design between a blade and a mallet with a medium-sized head. They offer a balance of control and forgiveness and suit a variety of putting strokes.

Face-Balanced - The face balanced putter is a putter where when balancing the golf putter on a single point the face of the putter head will face upwards. This is because the center of gravity (CG) is located beneath the shaft axis. The benefits to this are that they offer more stability and forgiveness as they are more resistant to twisting and help to keep a square clubface at impact.

Toe-Hang - A toe-hang putter has the toe of the putter pointing downward when the shaft of the putter is balanced on a single point. Similarly to how a face-balanced putter works, the toe-hang putter works by placing the CG closer to the toe of the putter, which allows for more rotation during the putting stroke. A toe-hang putter will encourage a natural face rotation, helping players square the putter at impact if they have an arc like stroke.

The most important part of putting to remember is that you the golfer feels confident when stood over a putt. The head shape of the putter needs to fit your eye and that the specifications of the head fit your putting stroke.
